This year’s Researchers’ Night in the Czech Republic will be supported by the prestigious H2020 grant and will return to the map of Europe
The two-year cooperation between VSB – Technical University of Ostrava and the University of Ostrava as the national coordinator of the Researchers’ Night in the Czech Republic is bearing fruit.

For the CRP 18+ project, within which the University of Ostrava coordinates 19 universities, the VSB-TUO team managed to obtain the prestigious grant H2020-MSCA-NIGHT-2020. Through this project, it will manage the work of about 40 university and non-university organizers of the Researchers’ Night throughout the Czech Republic.

The grant also included the European map of European Researchers’ Night, which brings science closer to the general public and raises awareness of research and innovation activities and promotes understanding of the impact of researchers' work on citizens' daily lives.

The Researchers’ Night in Europe has been held on the last Friday in September every year since 2005, but thanks to this year’s measures against the spread of coronavirus, the European Commission has moved this event of popularization of science to Friday 27 November 2020. The Czech speciality is usually the unified topic of presentations, which is MAN AND ROBOT this year. Every year, thousands of people visit the programme of our two Ostrava universities, the Moravian-Silesian Scientific Library, the Dolní Vítkovice (DOV) Science and Technology Centre and other partners. Despite the postponement of the date, the organizers are already intensively preparing the programme, including alternative variants responding to the current restrictions.
