Get the latest Phd Academy news at the Info Day
The Info Day will provide you with the latest news and information on the PhD Academy of the VSB-TUO in the upcoming academic year. The event will take place on 9th September at 10:00 in the gallery of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the VSB-TUO. The informal gathering, designed especially for PhD students, will also host an academic writing expert Dr. Dana Lynn Driscoll, Director of the Jones White Writing Center at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, USA.

"When we launched the pilot run of the PhD Academy about a year ago, we promised to organize informal meetings of students interested in the PhD Academy, lecturers, and participants. We are glad that we managed to keep the promise and prepare an interesting programme for the Info Day," said Lucie Hofrichterová, administrator of the PhD Academy.

The PhD Academy, its intentions, and plans, as well as news for the upcoming year, will be presented by its programme guarantor Kamila Janovská. The lecturers and guarantors will stand ready to give you all the information on a wide range of courses. Kamila Rouchalová, a student in the pilot year of the PhD Academy from the Faculty of Mining and Geology of VSB-TUO, will also share her experience, and Nela Stebnická, a member of the Central Library of the University, will talk about the services of the library.

We are happy to have the unique opportunity to join a talk by Dr. Dana Lynn Driscoll on Writing Your Way into Your Discipline: How Learning to Write Creates Expertise. Dr. Driscoll, who lectures on the topic worldwide, will be holding several workshops for students and academic staff on 5th-8th September. If you are interested, please register for a three day workshop here and for a one day workshop here. Only a few places are still left.

The PhD Academy is a unique support centre in the Czech Republic that aims to help PhD students enhance their knowledge and skills necessary for the successful completion of their studies and the start of their scientific careers. Around 360 students participated in the pilot year in nearly three dozen courses in both the winter and summer semesters.
