The 15th European Congress on Catalysis took place at the end of the summer. The Nanotechnology Centre was represented at this conference by Ing. Ladislav Svoboda, Ph.D. and Ing. Zuzana Vilamová. The main topics in this year's program were: Catalysis to Tackle Industrial Challanges; Catalysis to Improve the Environment and Quality of Live; Materiala for Heterogeneous, Homogeneous, and Bio-Catalysis and Special Sessions including Catalysts and reactors under dynamic conditions for energy storage and conversion, Intermetallic compounds in catalysis Photo-driven processes for fuel and organic synthesis. he conference was attended by a number of top scientists from all over the world.
In the section Catalysis to Improve the Environment and Quality of Life, one of the main topics of which was Environmental photocatalysis, Ladislav Svoboda presented a scientific lecture on "Continuous in situ measurement of photocatalytic efficiency of powder materials in liquid dispersions by optical absorption method". In this lecture he presented a new measurement method and a completely new experimental setup for the first ever continuous in situ measurement of photocatalytic activity of nanomaterials in liquid dispersion. The novelty of this method was also demonstrated by the granting of a patent (CZ 308365 B6). The lecture was a great success, which was crowned by a very prestigious offer of collaboration from Dr. Juan José Delgado, Universitat de Cadiz, Spain. In the poster session, the Centre for Nanotechnology was represented by Zuzana Vilamová with the poster "Evaluation of photocatalytic particles deposition techniques to fibrous membranes for pollutant degradation".
