The CPIT team has received a prestigious award from the Japan Institute of Metals and Materials
Professors B. Strnadel, H. Fukotomi, O. Umezawa and E. Kobayasi have been awarded the Japan Institute of Metals and Materials (JIM) Best Research Achievement Award for 2021.

The publication Preferential Dynamic Grain Growth Mechanism Enabling the Control of Microstructure and Texture by High Temperature Deformation: Experimental Evidence and Applicability was published as part of the Innovative Musculoskeletal Therapeutics in Trauma Surgery project, which the named authors conducted at the Center for Advanced Innovative Technologies in 2019-2022 in collaboration with Yokohama National University, Tokyo Institute of Technology, and Ibaraki University. The award-winning publication elucidated the mechanisms of texture development at elevated temperatures in Al-Mg alloys and the dynamics of dislocation motion as a function of stress and strain rate. The findings will be applied to the development of materials for the medical industry.

Prof. Hiroshi Fukutomi received the Prof. Bohumir Strnadel Award from the President of the Japan Institute of Metals and Materials.
