"To be ranked in the top 1,000 is a great achievement. For inclusion in this ranking, institutions must, among other things, be listed in the QS World University Rankings, QS Rankings by Region or QS Rankings by Subject, all of which we have fulfilled. We consider sustainability a crucial aspect, and currently, we are working on the sustainability strategy of VSB-TUO," said Jana Kukutschová, Vice-Rector for Science and Research.
The ranking comprises three main categories: Social Impact (45%), Environmental Impact (45%), and Governance (10%). Nine performance indicators, consisting of 53 parameters, are monitored within these categories. Universities can be ranked separately in each category, across indicators, and overall.
"VSB-TUO has achieved its best global ranking in the newly added Governance category, securing 603rd position. This area examines the ethical and transparent behaviour of the university along with how the university's governance is integrated into its rules and regulations, strategic plans, and organisational structures. Within each performance indicator, performed best in Environmental Sustainability, securing the 678th position. This indicator assesses the university's strategy and activities toward an environmentally sustainable future," explained Kateřina Angus, International Evaluation and Ranking Specialist.
Among Czech universities, Masaryk University achieved the best ranking (161st worldwide), followed by Charles University (172nd) and the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague (323rd).
