Jawa 500 OHV - Another Beautiful Motorcycle Leaves the Restoration Workshop

The Restoration Workshop at the Department of Machine and Industrial Design has successfully achieved its next goal, and it's time to proudly present the result of a year's worth of meticulous work. The unveiling of the fifth reconstructed motorcycle will take place on April 2, 2024, at 10:00 am at the premises of the Restoration Workshop.

The fifth project of the Restoration Workshop focused on local production, specifically the Jawa 500 OHV motorcycle. This was the first motorcycle of the Jawa company, established by businessman Ing. František Janeček, manufactured between 1929 and 1931 and based on the purchased license of the Wanderer 500 motorcycle.

According to the production records, our motorcycle was manufactured in 1931, and the restoration work mainly involved replacing missing parts and restoring the motorcycle to working condition. There was extensive discussion about the red paintwork that the motorcycle arrived with at the workshop, as it did not match its historical appearance. Eventually, it was decided not to further intervene with the surface treatment. However, the cherry on top of the cake is the result of manufacturing and painting the entire front fender.

What's next? In the Restoration Workshop, we've already begun work on another project: the restoration of a British motorcycle, the AJS 500 OHV from 1929.
