On Thursday 25.4. we had the opportunity thanks to close cooperation with the Faculty of Mining and Geology and thanks to the vice-dean for science and research assoc. prof. Václav Zubíček, to participate in a meeting with experts from Ineris – Institut national de l´environnement industriel et des risque and Uniwersytet Śląski in Katowice. The program included the exchange of experience in the field of risk assessment associated with the post-mining landscape, as well as the issue of thermal processes on mine dumps. Together, we had the opportunity thanks to long-term successful cooperation with the company SG Geotechnika and Diamo visit the Heřmanice and Ema mine dumps. Here, together with us, representatives of the named companies took part in the in-situ meeting, specifically assoc. prof František Kresta for SG Geotechnika and assist. prof. Václav Dorazil, MBA for Diamo. We also visited the tailings treatment plant on the dump of the former ČSA mine in Karviná. This meeting confirmed the importance of interdisciplinary cooperation not only within VŠB-TU Ostrava, but also between academia and industrial partners. Further meetings will take place in the near future and our common goal is the preparation of international projects such as HORIZON and others.
