The GSPORT league culminated on the first weekend in June. How did the ESPORT VSB-TUO team do in the league that combines gaming and sport?
GSPORT University League 2024, a unique global event that brings together not only gaming and sport, but also universities from around the world. While the gaming part tests the participants' strategic thinking and quick reflexes, the sports part focuses on physical and mental fitness and endurance.

This year, 29 universities from 11 countries qualified for the GSPORT University League. The league consists of an online section, where teams compete in calorie-burning competitions via the app, CS 2 and EA FC24, and an offline final section. The latter tests players in futsal, obstacle course, EA FC24, CS 2 and BlazePods. Eight teams made it to the final.

The Esport VŠB-TUO team not only won the online part of the league, for which they received a nice prize of 1000 EUR, but also beat all the university teams in the offline part! Thus, VŠB-TUO players won the whole competition and became GSPORT International Champions, defending last year's title! At the same time, they also won the title of GSPORT Academic Champions, which officially came under the Czech University Sports Association!

This is a huge success for the entire VŠB-TUO team, which was represented by nine esports players (most of the players were students from FEECS), the sports activities coach Martin Kapsa and the esports coach Jakub Čubík. He is very proud of his team and does not hide his pride: "Every wolf in our team fought for victory and in many cases went through pain. It's great that we managed to grab the first place again. But I am already excited for the determination of my charges and I thank them!" Apart from the great joy, the team also had a beautiful prize of 150,000Kč awaiting them.
