Artificial intelligence is already finding its way into medicine, and there are many areas where it has and will continue to have great potential in the future. However, it is essential to set rules for its safe and effective use. This is one of the tasks of the Czech Society for Artificial Intelligence and Innovative Digital Technologies in Medicine.
The Society wants to provide up-to-date information on research and development in the field of AI and digital technologies, inform about certified innovative solutions for diagnosis and treatment, cooperate with leading experts and connect various fields of medicine, universities and the private sphere.
Experts from the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic, General University Hospital in Prague, University Hospital Ostrava, IKEM, T. Bata Regional Hospital in Zlín, Masaryk University in Brno and VŠB-TUO have been elected to the eight-member CSAIM committee. Radek Martinek, Vice Dean for Science and Research at FEI, will be in charge of implementation and development. He has extensive experience with AI from projects focused on the application of machine learning in medicine, industry, the automotive sector and other areas.
"Many people are trying to implement AI, but very often the available data is not suitable. That is why I want to focus on the proper preparation and annotation of data, as well as how experts from different fields should enter this process," Radek Martinek presented his plans within CSAIM.
So-called explainable artificial intelligence is now developing very rapidly. This means that an AI model will not only provide a result, but can also explain the basis on which it arrived at that result.
"My team and I are working on the application of machine learning, so I would like to bring my expertise in how to use AI effectively and correctly nowadays. And thus contribute to the use of technology not only in an innovative way, but also with an emphasis on correctness and clarity of results," Martinek added.
