Listening rooms get new equipment
A number of innovations await students in the winter semester, which began today at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics of VSB-TUO. Due to the floods, the start of the academic year has been postponed by a week.

"During the holidays, all three large lecture halls underwent reconstruction, where we completely replaced the projection equipment and computer equipment. The reconstruction also included 11 classrooms, and we also completed the modernisation of the television studio," said Jan Platoš, Dean of the FEECS.

Another change is a new navigation system in the faculty building, which will facilitate orientation for students, staff and visitors. The existing signage system was already outdated and did not correspond to the naming of departments, classrooms or laboratories. The faculty also responded to the fact that students, scientists and experts from abroad have been working here more and more frequently in recent years and therefore modified the system.

The new academic year will also see the launch of other scientific research projects, some of which will focus on cooperation with major industrial partners. "We pay a lot of attention to cooperation with industry; this year alone we have launched 23 new projects," recalled Dean Jan Platoš.

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science is one of the largest at VSB-TUO. Interest in promising technical fields is growing every year. More than a thousand students will enter the first year this year, choosing from 12 study programmes.
