VSB-TUO performed best in the Research Environment category, securing the 830th position globally, which is consistent with last year's performance. Domestically, the University ranks fifth. In the Internationalisation category, VSB-TUO achieved 846th place, an improvement of 46 places from the previous year, positioning it 13th in the Czech Republic.
“The biggest improvement over the previous year was in the Industry category, which measures factors like the volume of contract research and the number of patents citing our university's publications,” said Kateřina Angus, international evaluation and ranking specialist at VSB-TUO. The University climbed 142 places in this category, reaching 1014th place worldwide.
Seventeen Czech universities made it into the rankings this year, one fewer than last year. Among the top-performing Czech institutions are Charles University (401st-500th), Masaryk University (601st-800th), and the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (801st-1000th). VSB-TUO shares its position with Mendel University in Brno, Tomas Bata University in Zlín, University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague, and the University of West Bohemia.
Globally, the University of Oxford continues to hold the top spot for the ninth consecutive year, while MIT has moved up to second place, followed by Harvard University in third. China's universities are gaining prominence, edging closer to the top 10. This year, universities from Brazil, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates have made their debut in the top 200.
