AdvanceMed 2025: technologies are going into practice

At this year's professional conference AdvanceMed 2025, which took place in the industrial area of Dolní Vítkovice in Ostrava, representatives of the Department of Cybernetics and Biomedical Engineering and the Ostrava University Hospital presented the results of their long-standing cooperation in the field of biomedical technologies. The research results, focused on practical use in the hospital environment, aroused great interest of the professional public.

Among the presented solutions, the wireless system for measuring oxygen and carbon dioxide concentration, which uses IQRF technology for reliable data transmission even in demanding operating conditions, for example in intensive care units or operating theatres, caught our attention. The research team also presented the use of virtual reality in pre-operative preparation, which allows doctors to visualize a patient's anatomy in detail and plan interventions more accurately. 3D printed models of organs were also an integral part of the exhibition, serving as a tool for planning complex operations and as an effective teaching aid for medical students. The presentation also included the area of artificial intelligence and data analytics. The team consisting of Radana Vilímková Kahánková, Dominik Vilímek, Martina Ládrová and Kateřina Barnová demonstrated how advanced computational methods can be used in diagnostics, health risk prediction or decision support systems in clinical practice. The importance of the practical applicability of research outputs was also emphasized by Radek Martinek, who presented innovative solutions developed with regard to the needs of medical operations.
"Our goal is to bring technologies that will facilitate the work of doctors and increase patient safety. AdvanceMed has given us a unique opportunity to show what the connection between clinical practice and technical research can look like in real applications," said Radovan Hájovský.

This year, AdvanceMed 2025 focused on current topics in neurology, radiology, cardiology and gastroenterology. Emphasis was also placed on the digitalisation of healthcare and new approaches in the management of healthcare facilities. The conference once again confirmed the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration for the future of modern medicine.
