Our colleagues from Poland also visited the Faculty of Mining and Geology and toured the laboratories of the Institute of Environmental Technology, part of CEET at VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
“Our Fraunhofer innovation platform and the FPC ALighT established their cooperation last year. Official visits have already taken place with the participation of the Rectors of both universities and we have repeatedly expressed our willingness to cooperate, which is, after all, a basic principle of all partnerships within the Fraunhofer Innovation Platforms in many countries. The visit of FPC ALighT Director Anna Król and her colleague Kamila Mizerna was a great opportunity to establish personal contacts and to look for specific topics for scientific cooperation,” said Jana Kukutschová, Vice Rector for Science and Research and Director of FIP-AI@VSB-TUO.
Anna Król also sees several possibilities for cooperation, and one outcome of this mutual cooperation is the application to the M-ERA.NET Call 3 programme, which has already been submitted. “We are currently preparing a detailed cooperation programme. The advantage is a number of related topics and the fact that we have a common scientific partner, which is the Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology IWU in Chemnitz. We would like to create research teams in the field of artificial intelligence, development of new materials, weight reduction of materials or environmental impact assessment of products,” said Król.
During a visit to the Department of Environmental Engineering of the Faculty of Mining and Geology at VSB-TUO, the Polish scientists in cooperation with their colleagues from Ostrava came up with proposals for research topics and joint publications. Topics include, but are not limited to, heavy metal leaching, waste and sewage sludge management, development of water purification methods and aging of innovative materials.
The two institutions have also agreed to cooperate in promoting research and innovation in international markets.
