The project focuses on the application of advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) methods for the management and optimization of energy systems.
The goal of the research initiative, which centers around the CEET building, is to contribute to achieving higher energy self-sufficiency and raw material independence in the region. The project will implement methods focusing on energy consumption and production forecasting, optimization of renewable energy use, and anomaly detection in the operation of energy systems.
“This project offers concrete solutions for the long-term sustainability and energy self-sufficiency of buildings in the Moravian-Silesian Region. It is part of a broader trend towards a circular economy and environmentally responsible energy management,” said Lukáš Prokop, the project’s principal investigator and director of the ENET Centre.

The project, titled “Artificial Intelligence for Enhancing Energy Self-Sufficiency and Raw Material Independence,” has received a grant of 4.68 million CZK from the Moravian-Silesian Region. The goal is to test and validate technological innovations that can be applied not only in the region but also at the national level.
“In my opinion, the results of this project could have a fundamental impact on the creation of energy policies in the Czech Republic. The use of artificial intelligence will help us optimize renewable resources, reduce dependence on external supplies, and contribute to environmental protection,” adds Abhishek Kumar.

The project also includes the development of a postdoctoral position responsible for the research and development of new machine learning and AI methods for energy system prediction and optimization. The entire project will last for three years, until the end of 2027.
The cooperation between CEET VSB-TUO and the Moravian-Silesian Region is part of a broader effort towards the ecological transformation of the region and strengthening its energy independence. This project is a concrete step towards achieving the set goals and can serve as an inspiration for other initiatives in this field.
